Looking for Occupational Therapy in the Penrith Area?
We love helping and making a difference in children’s lives! Helping them learn to understand themselves and build the skills necessary for success is what drives and motivates us!
A child needs to develop fundamental skills to engage in their primary occupations which are learning and playing. The development of self care activities such as getting dressed and tying shoelaces are taken for granted however are essential skills for a child to develop in order to achieve independance. Many school based activities involve fine motor development (e.g. pencil grasp, pre- writing shapes, scissor skills and handwriting) which allow a child to succeed in their academic occupations at school.
We provide a holistic approach to function, assessing each child’s gross and fine motor skills, sensory processing, and social emotional regulation. We pride ourselves on our ability to educate families to understand their child’s individual needs, and provide appropriate therapeutic supports to help them reach their goals.
We love helping and making a difference in children's lives!
The Occupational Therapists at NSPOT can help if your child has difficulty in any of the following areas:
- Gross Motor Skills: Motor planning and sequencing, coordination, strength, balance, reflex integration, delayed milestones
- Fine Motor Skills: Grasp/grip strength, printing, hand dominance, bimanual coordination, dexterity
- Self – Care Skills: Dressing, feeding, hygiene, toileting
- School and Play: Attention, visual processing, social interaction
- Self Regulation: Sensory processing and emotional regulation
Providing children with support in these areas will maximise their engagement, achievement and independence in all activities, including those at school, play and self care skills such as dressing and feeding. This in turn will enhance their ability to function independently and enhance their quality of life.
If you have concerns about your child’s skills, or if they appear to be functioning differently to the ages and stages outlined in our developmental milestones guide phone us on 4721 4766 to speak with one of our friendly Occupational Therapists.
