About Aimee
What inspired you to become an Occupational Therapist?
When I was in primary school, my cousin was diagnosed with PANDAS. I often attended her occupational therapy sessions and participated in play-based activities alongside her. This early exposure sparked my interest in OT. Later, in high school, I knew I wanted to work in health, and while researching different pathways, I came across occupational therapy again. I decided to give it a go and quickly fell in love with the course and the work I completed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. I’m excited to continue my journey as an occupational therapist.
Who do you like to work with?
In my first year of university, I was unsure which population I wanted to work with, and paediatrics was initially at the bottom of my list. However, after starting work as an OTA with children, I found myself really enjoying it. I then requested a paediatric placement in my final year, which confirmed that paediatrics is the area I want to work in.
Greatest accomplishment?
My greatest accomplishment is completing a university degree and writing an honours research paper. The paper was approximately 100 pages long and took an entire year to complete, making it the most extensive piece of work I have ever undertaken.
I enjoy movement-based activities such as swinging, going down slides, and riding scooter boards, as I am drawn to sensory-seeking activities.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading and completing arts and crafts.
