Emily Del Principe

Speech Pathologist

About Emily

What inspired you to become a speechie?

I’ve grown up around younger siblings and cousins which really cemented my wish to work with children one day. Throughout my schooling, I fell in love with learning languages and science. There’s no better occupation than Speech Pathology that allows me to use my language and science knowledge.
Finally, communication is something that many of us take for granted. Communication difficulties can severely impact an individual’s and their family’s life, so to be able to make a difference is truly inspiring!

Who do you like to work with?

I enjoy working with children and adolescents of all ages and abilities in all areas including speech, language, literacy, stuttering and social communication.
I also love working alongside families to increase their quality of life through the power of communication.
Working with school-age children in schools is also extremely rewarding as you get to see them improve in their natural environment and with their friends.

What is one of your greatest accomplishments?

Completing my university degree and developing an immense passion for the field!

I know this is just the beginning and I look forward to many accomplishments throughout my career.

Anything I can make intrinsically rewarding and really motivating: treasure hunts, table footy or Mr. Potato Head.
Fun board games are also a wonderful addition to therapy!
(Also, Pop-up Pirate. It’s a classic!)

I’m a big “foodie” so you’ll find me trying new cafés and restaurants in my free time.

I also love spending time with my family and friends, shopping and in my down time I enjoy a good sudoku or film!
